And while soviets have to build more turrets thats more expensive, for allies its a bit more micro managey, to decide which turrets should take what infantry inside, albeit general a javelin trooper works just fine mostly. To be fair, like in 2, you can charge up the Tesla coils with Tesla troopers to make them better. Yup the allies still have everything they had in 1 and then some like Bribing. They arent the same as they lost all their air force, aside from one thing, its a heavy inbalance compared to what Allies had in the air, they entirely flipped it around from the 1st game in the 2nd and i hated that. Not sure what you guys prefer for RA4 (if it's ever gonna come out) but I hope the factions have their own special way of winning with asymmetric balance. TLDR: RA1 factions feels like China vs GLA, RA2 feels like China vs USA and the balance is broken in RA3. Why the heck the Allies are so powerful in RA3? Where's the humble Allies we see in Red Alert 1 that hides and fear the Soviet in a direct fight? Even with Einstein gone, they're still kicking. The soviet units are single purpose but still bad at their intended role, like tesla coil is nothing special of an anti-armor compared to the cheaper prism tower, flak troopers are worse than javelin soldiers, bullfrog stinks compared to hydrofoil. The Red alert 3 mirage/laser tanks are effective against everything. In red alert 2, the mirage is effective vs infantry and tanks (but not buildings) and the prism tank is effective against infantry and buildings (but not tanks). The Allied multigun turret is already an all-rounder as it can counter infantry, air and armor. For example, the Soviets need to build separate base defenses: sentry gun + flak canon + tesla coil to cover everything. The Allies have multipurpose units that are effective against many things while the Soviets are single unit - single purpose (and they still comparatively suk at that intended role). Red Alert 3 changed their way of playing again. They get the cloning vats or industrial plant to encourage players to get they army in overwhelming numbers and nukes. The Soviets are still the same as before, massing tanks and troops to win. They rely on cutting-edge technology, full satellite surveillance, superior airforce. They are no longer the GLA-style faction, they are more like Generals's USA faction. Things have gone differently in Red Alert 2, the Allies are more advanced and equally (or more) powerful to the Soviet. Other than utilizing tanks (which are inferior to the other side) they use hit & run tactics, infiltrations, credits-stealing, spying, instantaneous travelling, field repairs and healings, radar jamming, shroud generating, camouflage base defenses, fake building decoys, etc. They are seemingly less new-player-friendly. The Allies are different, it's not just about massing tanks (thought it's the only way to win in multiplayer non-water maps), you got to take things indirectly, much like the GLA faction in Generals. If you play C&C Generals, it's quite similar to the Chinese faction, have napalm/nukes and better tanks than the other side and win in a direct fight. In Red Alert, the Soviet side is pretty easy, your tanks are powerful, you just en mass your forces in large numbers and attack your enemy head-on. We even had RA 3: Uprising, which Empire of Rising attempted to rise again which failed. But nonetheless, Allied is victorious again.Ĥth one? What is going to be? Time shift again?
